Summer Lessons & Pauses

Lesson Cycle

Our private lessons run year-round to support consistent growth and skill retention for students of all levels.

Summer Scheduling & Progress

Students who continue during the summer (at least 50% of their lessons) are given priority for Fall scheduling helping them keep both their teacher and preferred time slot.

Taking a Break

Students may pause lessons for up to 2 consecutive months per year without needing to pay a new registration fee.

Please note:

  • Your lesson slot is not held during the pause and may be reassigned.

  • A new registration fee will be required if returning after the 2-month pause.

  • A withdrawal form must be submitted at least 5 business days before the next billing cycle.

Progress, Performances & Community

The Repertoire Challenge

Students track their progress by building a 30-song repertoire.

Upon completion, they receive an award and have an opportunity to record a music video in our Film Studio.

This program includes 12 progressive levels with awards at every milestoneβ€”great for kids and adults alike.

Annual Recitals

Concert in the Park

A relaxed, fun concert at a local park with the family, picnic lunch and water games.

Winter Gala at the Fox Theater

A concert with a professional stage crew, sound, and lighting. An elevated performance experience for students of all ages.

Academy Band

As students grow, they are invited to join a band, developing teamwork, musicality, and confidence in a fun, community-centered experience.

Bands rehearse weekly and perform at concerts and community venues. It’s a fun, high-energy experience that deepens musical growth and builds lasting friendships.

Frequently Asked Questions

We’re here to make your music journey smooth, fun, and clear!

Here’s everything you might want to know before getting started.

What is the commitment?

Getting started is easy and low-pressure!

You can begin with either:

β€’ A single private Trial Lesson, or

β€’ The 4-Week Music Kickstart (small group intro program).

After that, if you’re ready to continue, you can choose one of our flexible enrollment options:

β€’ Package A: Monthly Membership (month-to-month flexibility)

β€’ Package B: 8-Week Music Journey (a focused learning path)

β€’ Package C: Annual Membership (best savings + reserved time slot)

We’re here to meet you where you are, whether you’re exploring or ready to dive in!

How often do I have lessons?

Students have one private lesson each week, on the same day and time to ensure consistency and steady progress.

You can choose:

β€’ 30-minute, 45-minute, or 60-minute lessons based on your goals and level.

β€’ In-person at our Academy or online (via Zoom) for maximum flexibility.

Some students also choose to add a second weekly lesson if they want to accelerate their learning β€” especially for advanced study or multiple instruments!

How long are lessons?

You can choose the lesson length that best fits your goals and schedule:

β€’ 30-minute lessons (perfect for beginners and younger students)

β€’ 45-minute lessons (great for growing musicians who want a little more time)

β€’ 60-minute lessons (ideal for advanced study or multiple instruments)

We’ll help you choose the right fit when you register, and you can always adjust as you grow!

Do you have any discounts?

Yes, and we love helping families save!

Here’s how you can qualify:

β€’ Military Discount: 10% off for current and veteran service members

β€’ Family Discount: 10% off when enrolling three or more students or instruments

β€’ Multi-Lesson Discount: 10% off if a student takes three or more half-hour lessons per week

And don’t forget, if you choose the Annual Membership, you’ll get two months completely free! It’s our biggest savings and guarantees your spot all year long.

Can I switch instruments?

Yes! We understand that interests can evolve and music is all about exploring what you love.

If you’d like to switch to a different instrument, just let us know.

We’ll help match you with the right teacher*. Please note we cannot guarantee the same original lesson day/time.

*Switching may depend on teacher availability.

Can I rent an instrument from you?

We offer accordion and guitar rentals for our enrolled students, with rates ranging from $35–$45 per month.

For other instruments (like piano, violin, drums, etc.), we’re happy to recommend Hoffman Music to help you find the perfect fit! Our team can also guide you toward other quality, affordable options β€” just ask.

Do you provide any instruments for the trial lesson?

Yes!

If you’re taking a trial lesson in-person at the Academy, we’ll have an instrument ready for you, no need to bring anything.

If you’re doing an online trial lesson, we recommend having your own instrument at home so you can fully participate.

(Need help finding one? We’re happy to guide you before your first session!)

What do I need to bring to my trial lesson?

For in-person lessons, just bring yourself!

We’ll provide everything else you need for your first session, including the instrument if needed.

If you already have an instrument at home (like a guitar, violin, or voice books), feel free to bring it so your teacher can better tailor the lesson to you. You'll also want to bring any music or curriculum you have already worked on.

If you’re doing an online lesson, please have your own instrument set up and ready to go.

What if I need to pause lessons for travel or emergencies?

We understand that life happens!

If you need to miss a lesson, please provide at least 24 hours’ notice whenever possible.

β€’ Make-up lessons are not guaranteed, but we will do our best to offer one if your teacher has availability within 6 days of the missed lesson.

β€’ If transportation is an issue, your teacher may offer a remote lesson alternative via Zoom at their discretion.

β€’ Extended travel or emergency situations can be accommodated with communicationβ€”just reach out to our office so we can work with you.

Our goal is to support your musical journey while honoring the time and schedules of our instructors.

How do I upgrade or change my package after my intro program?

At the end of your 4-Week Music Kickstart or Trial Lesson, you’ll have the opportunity to choose one of our flexible ongoing packages:

β€’ Monthly Membership (most flexible)

β€’ 8-Week Music Journey (focused progress)

β€’ Annual Membership (biggest savings)

Our front office team will guide you through the options so you can continue your music journey with confidence.

How do I track my or my child’s progress?

We believe learning music should be measurable and meaningful. Here’s how we support student growth:

β€’ Assignment Sheets: Weekly assignment sheets give students clear goals and help parents stay involved. Many families love these sheets because they show what’s being learned and make it easy to ask the right questions at home.

β€’ Repertoire Challenge: Students build a personal list of mastered songs and earn awards at each 30-piece milestoneβ€”including a professional music video recording!

β€’ Recitals: Students showcase their skills at our Summer Extravaganza and Winter Gala performances.

β€’ Academy Bands: As students grow, they may be invited to join bands that build teamwork, confidence, and real-world performance skills.

Progress isn’t random...it’s encouraged, celebrated, and visible every step of the way!

What holidays is the Academy closed?

We keep our closures to a minimum so students stay on track with their progress!

We are closed for:

β€’ July 4th

β€’ Thanksgiving Day

β€’ Christmas Week (A full week off so everyone can enjoy time with family.)

We’ll always send reminders ahead of time if a closure impacts your regular lesson day.

What time do you open?

Our Academy hours are:

β€’ Monday–Friday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM

β€’ Saturday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

We’re always adding more lesson slots and instructor availability! If you need a time outside of our current hours, let us know β€”  we may have a spot that fits your schedule!

I want to be involved! How can I help at the Academy?

We love when our families and students get involved!

Here are a few ways you can help support the Academy community:

β€’ Volunteer at Recitals: Help set up, greet guests, or assist backstage during our Summer Extravaganza or Winter Gala events.

β€’ Spread the Word: Share your experience with friends, family, and on social media (personal referrals mean the world to us!)

β€’ Encouragement: A simple high-five to a young performer or a kind word to another parent goes a long way in building a warm, supportive environment.

If you’re interested in getting more involved, just let our front office know β€” we’d love to connect with you!

Office staff may be reached via email at [email protected]
