Got Questions About The Bartell Adults Summer Choir Season?
I’m nervous. I haven’t sung in years. Is this for me?
Yes. Most of our adult singers are “I used to sing in high school / church / college” people who haven’t sung in a while. We start gently, keep it low‑pressure, and help you ease back in at a comfortable pace.
Do I need prior experience or the ability to read music?
No. You don’t need formal training or sight‑reading skills. We teach parts step‑by‑step, use demos and practice tracks, and repeat sections until everyone feels solid.
How long are rehearsals and how often do you meet?
We meet once a week on Thursdays at 7 PM for a 1-hour rehearsal. It's designed to fit into a busy work and family schedule while still giving you a meaningful creative outlet.
Is $240 really worth it?
Yes. You get 12 weekly expert-led rehearsals, a live outdoor performance at Concert in the Park, a professional show video, practice tracks, a t-shirt, and priority family seating. That's $20 per session with a full performance experience built in. Most adults spend more than that on one dinner out.
I’m not a “real singer.” Will I be able to keep up?
Absolutely. We welcome all confidence levels. Our job is to help you improve, blend with the group, and enjoy the process. There are no solos required and no pressure to be perfect.
What if I have to miss a rehearsal?
We get it. Adults have jobs, kids, and life. If you need to miss a week, you can use our digital practice tracks to catch up, and we'll review key sections at the next rehearsal. We just ask that you avoid missing the final rehearsals before the Concert in the Park if possible.
What happens after the Summer Season ends?
As a Bartell Choir Member, you get early access to reserve your spot in the Holiday Choir Season before we open to the public. Most members who complete the Summer Season continue into fall. From there, the journey leads to our Spring Fox Theater Gala. You choose what comes next. Nothing rolls over automatically, but your spot is always first.
What kind of music and atmosphere should I expect?
Expect a friendly, upbeat environment and a mix of songs (both classic and contemporary) arranged for adult voices. No stuffy choral vibes, no harsh critiques, just focused rehearsals, clear direction, and a group of adults who want to make something cool together.
